Apple launches a new app development curriculum for U.S. school and college students

Apple announces a new app development curriculum design, to teach students how to start using Swift to create fully functional iPhone apps. Apple said, the company has teamed with a half-dozen community colleges across the country to bring its App Development with Swift program, to help students enter the work world with app development knowledge.

The course will be available for free download in Apple iBooks for anyone to download and builds on the Everyone Can Code series Apple already publishes.
Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, said, we’ve seen the impact that coding has on individuals and the U.S. economy as a whole. The app economy and software development are among the fastest-growing job sectors in America, and we’re thrilled to be providing educators and students with the tools to learn coding.
Cook said, the benefit of Apple’s App Development Curriculum is that if you look at the 2 million Jobs we’ve created in the economy, about three-quarters of those, give or take are in app development. That part of the economy has really grown leaps and bounds since the introduction of the App Store in 2008.
